Hereford United took a 'game plan' to Morecambe yesterday and John Trewick, the first team coach, thought they had carried it out well.
"You win the game over ninety minutes, not necessarily over the first twenty or over the first half," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"We managed to control the speed of the game. We managed to stifle chances. I think they only had one good chance over the whole of the game.
"In the end they got a little bit frustrated. We capitalised rightfully so, we fully deserved to win.
"I thought our back four were exceptional and they gave us the platform we needed to go on and win.
"As things wore on we were controlling the pace of the game and as time ran out I always thought they would leave us some gaps as they pushed forward for a goal.
"They did that and unlike last week when we lost to Macclesfield we took them on this occasion."
Meanwhile Lionel Ainsworth, the young Hereford United winger, was given a mark of eight yesterday for his performance against Morecambe yesterday. Clint Easton and Ben Smith were awarded a seven. All the other players received a six.
For Morecambe, only Damien Allen got a seven.
