Bulls supporters never forget Hendon

Perhaps Ian Hendon thought he might never have to play against Hereford United again, but injuries at Underhill have forced manager Paul Fairclough to bring Hendon, now on the coaching staff, back on the playing field.

Hendon, who is 35, has been with Barnet since 2003 and has also captained the side.

However it was early in his career with the club that he clattered Rob Purdie to the ground in a game with Hereford United at Underhill. He should have been sent off that day and Bulls supporters haven't forgiven him. After all when compared with Purdie, Hendon is a giant.

The game was played on August 23rd 2003 at Barnet.

The main talking point came when Rob Purdie was challenged by Barnet skipper Ian Hendon, as he appeared to attack him with a lunging challenge which brought the United striker down. A yellow card was his punishment, although he was lucky to stay on the field of play.

Purdie was subbed shortly after the incident and matters were made worse in Bulls supporters eyes when Hendon later scored for the Bees in the 1-1 draw.

Since then Hendon has been a target for the Bulls faithful and they soon started taunting him this afternoon. It didn't help his cause when he was booked for kicking the ball away late in the first half.
