Blues may play weakened side for Hereford game

Birmingham City may not take the Carling Cup game against Hereford United too seriously as their main aim this season appears to be to stay in the Premiership.

This Saturday they are at home to West Ham, the following Saturday they travel to Derby County, and the Saturday after the Cup game they play Middlesborough. The Blues would be looking to get something from all three games and therefore might decide to keep some of their top players out of the Cup game.

They have played two Premiership games to date but only taken one point. Their first game was at Chelsea where they did well to put two goals past one of the usually tightest defences in the League, but John Terry was missing that day.

Last Wednesday they drew at home to Sunderland 2-2 in front of 22,898.

Meanwhile the date of the game has been confirmed as Tuesday August 28th with a 7.45pm start.
