Chester have transfer listed utility player Sean Hessey, the second player to be told he is not in manager Bobby Williamson's plans. The club have signed veteran defender Paul Butler, the former Leeds and Wolves player, on a one year deal.

Aldershot have cancelled a proposed friendly match with Millwall due to the Policing cost presented by Hampshire Police. Oxford cannot sign any new players due to the Conference wage capping rules. Boss Jim Smith is still looking at several triallists but will have to offload players first.

MK Dons have signed Chester striker Drewe Broughton on a free transfer. Broughton, 28, spent the bulk of his time at Chester on loan with Boston. Bradford have signed teenage Everton defender Scott Phelan on a free transfer and taken Thomas Harban on loan from Barnsley. Notts County have signed Lee Canoville from Boston after a move to MK Dons collapsed following Martin Allen's departure as manager.

Cheltenham have moved Saturday's friendly with Wolves to Kidderminster due to water problems at Whaddon Road. Bury have signed goalkeeper Jim Provett and midfielder Ben Leonard on one year deals. Provett joins after rejecting a new deal at Hartlepool, while Leonard signs his first pro contract after being spotted playing Northern Counties League football.
