News Round Up

Chester City will not be changing their name after both the Football League and FA rejected the idea. York City have announced a £360,000 loss for last season. The filed accounts suggest that the club were technically insolvent when a £450,000 loan became due but the loan, from new owner JM Packaging, was not called in.

Bury have slammed the Football League for not deducting points from Accrington. Manager Chris Casper saw his side deducted their point gained when they played Sheff Utd's Colin Marrison under similar circumstances last season. The Shakers have sold teenage midfielder David Worrall to West Brom for £50,000. The second year scholar made a single substitute appearance in their first team.

Peterboro have announced friendlies for the coming summer with both Celtic and Man Utd, with the sons of both of the big club managers now with the Posh. Cheltenham are keen for Bristol Rovers to groundshare with them. Chairman Paul Baker has held talks with Rovers over a six-figure deal for the 18 months the Memorial Ground will be out of action.

Woking's departed chairman John Buchanan, who quit in a row over the sacking of Glenn Cockerill, has revealed some of the budgets in the Conference this season. He claims Woking are operating on a budget of £6,000 a week, Aldershot are on £12,000 with Oxford having a £25,000 budget - around £10,000 a week over the estimated figure for the Bulls.
