Cheltenham Deny Money Problems

Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker has been quick to deny money problems at the Whaddon Road club after local press revealed the club owed £45,000 to utility companies.

The Gloucestershire Echo reported that Powergen obtained a court order to warrant access to the ground for the utility company to install a pre-pay meter after a near £7,000 bill was left unpaid. Baker claims that the money was paid two weeks ago and that Powergen agreed to call off court action, however a Powegen statement claims that only part of the debt has been paid but they will refrain from executing the warrant.

In a seperate incident, the club also owes £38,000 to nPower for the electricity supply at the ground. The debt was as high as £60,000 two weeks ago, and the club claim they are querying 'several aspects of the bill'.

No matter what division the League One strugglers will be in next season they will be operating on a reduced budget, with a heavy loss expected this season.
