Turner unhappy with referee

Graham Turner was unhappy with the performance of the referee this afternoon, but thought his side did well to gain a point from the game.

"I think Burton came and set up store to defend deep, but the sending off was crucial to us. Down to ten men against eleven. I think that it is going to be a good point for us in the end," Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"Sometimes if you can't win the game, then you don't lose it. The point from this game could be invaluable at the end of the season. We did show a bit of character and resilence. It's important we start keeping clean sheets.

"When we had the ball, the way they set up, it was difficult to play through them or round them. They defended in numbers and we just could not break them down.

"We were not displeased with a point.

"The disappointment to me is the number of bokings. We've had an immaculate disciplinary record up to today. Without a shadow of a doubt the frustration of players being booked for dissent is an expensive operation for them because they get fined for dissent. I think that is an indication of how frustrated they were getting with the referee.

"I do beleive that with Tamika's sending off, we see loads of tackles like that generally produce a yellow card. For whatever reason this one decided it was more serious than that and his overall performance, I thought, frustrated the players and supporters.

"He looked as though he was going to be leanient because there were a couple of handballs from Burton players, one of those was five yards outside the box. There was no doubt it was a deliberate hand-ball. He's not booked them so you thing we've got a referee whose going to let one or two things go so it suprised when he produced a red card.

"Jonathan (Gould) has done very well while he has been with us and it was a couple of excellent saves that have earned us the point. But he's an experienced keeper, that's what he is there for and we are delighted with his form since he came to us."
