Seven leave Edgar Street

Hereford United have parted company with seven of their players. Six have been released and Michael Rose turned down a new contract from Graham Turner to join rivals Yeovil Town on a two-year deal.

Manager Gary Johnson, who has been tracking Rose for a while, said, "It's a great signing. People know that I have been chasing him for 12 months. Graham Turner turned all offers down originally, and quite rightly so, because he is a good player."

Rose was delighted with his transfer and felt it was the correct career move for himself, however he thinks that Hereford have a good chance of going one better next season. "I'm delighted to be signing for Yeovil. It's a great club that's going places."

"I had two fantastic seasons there so it's sad to be leaving. There's a great spirit at the club and I definately think they're good enough to bounce back and win the Conference next season," he told the NLP.

There is some confusion over the six players that were not offered new contracts, five are known but it is not known for sure who the sixth is. Some sources are suggesting it is Robert Betts, although Graham Turner told BBC H&W that it was Andy Wells. The other five released were Bertrand Cozic, Jordan King, Richard Teesdale, Dean Craven and Mark Beesley. All players that are out of contract this summer have been offered new deals and are expected to make a decision in the next week or two.

Tony James, Danny Williams, Jamie Pitman, Ryan Green, Robert Purdie and Danny Carey-Bertram have already signed on for the 2004/2005 campaign, but there is speculation linking Steve Guinan and Matt Baker with league clubs.
