Rovers gain Football League place

Doncaster Rovers have gained promotion to Division Three after a nail-biting Conference Promotion final match today.

Stoke City's Brittania Stadium was the setting for the game, which saw Dave Penney's men emerge 3-2 golden-goal victors over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Goals from Paul Green and Dave Morley put Donny 2-0 up, but the Daggers forced extra time with Mark Stein and Tarkan Mustafa replying in the second period. Five minutes into the second period of extra time, a close range effort from Francis Tierney put Rovers back into the Football League after a five year absence.

13,092 turned up for the game, which completes the Conference line-up for next season.
