News round up

King's Lynn Town have signed forward Michael Gyasi from Peterborough Sports. Another non-stranger to the Linnets, playing for our colours in 2020-2022, Michael went on to continue to gain a wealth of experience at other clubs of this level.

In his most recent season, Michael shone at Peterborough Sports, playing 43 games, scoring 15 goals and assisting plenty for the Cambridgeshire side. He said new Town head coach James Rowe, who previously managed Gloucester City, Chesterfield and AFC Fylde, "sold a really good project".

Left-footed wide attacking player Finlay Barnes has joined National League South side Ebbsfleet, having helped with King’s Lynn Town’s push to the play-offs last season. He had been offered a deal to stay at The Walks but has opted for a mouth south.

The 24-year-old has already racked up in the region of 250 appearances in senior football despite his age since leaving Norwich City’s academy in 2019. He was described as immensely adaptable by his new club, and has also turned out for York City, Darlington and Scarborough Athletic.

National League North newcomers Bedford Town have signed striker Shaun Jeffers, who left St Albans City in May after five years, 218 appearances and 117 goals. Having started his career at Coventry City, the 33-year-old has also featured for Cheltenham Town, Cambridge United, Tamworth, Peterborough United, Newport County, Yeovil Town before playing for a host of non-league clubs.

The club have also signed Tyrone Marsh, a local lad who the club described as having a wealth of experience across the upper end of non-league football. Marsh started his career at Oxford United, before moving on to Conference sides Ebbsfleet United, Torquay United, Dover Athletic and Macclesfield Town. It was at Boreham Wood where Marsh had the most success, scoring 45 goals in 186 appearances at the National League level and securing promotion from the National League South last season with Boreham Wood.

Southport are hosting a special charity football match on Sunday 3rd August at Haig Avenue, in support of 24 families directly affected by the tragic events of 29th July 2024. Axel Rudakubana's shocking and pure evil attack at the sold-out Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop saw three out of the 24 girls murdered.

This important event is being delivered in partnership with Southport Hesketh Round Table, which has already raised nearly £185,000 through their official GoFundMe campaign, working closely with the families affected from the very beginning.

Much like the popular Soccer Aid event, this match will feature a mix of celebrities and ex/professional footballers, coming together for a fantastic cause. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00pm, with gates opening earlier to allow fans to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the day’s activities.
