Sammy Robinson has told of the lure of full-time football after signing for Buxton
Sammy Robinson, one of the stand-out performers for Hereford last season, has said getting back into full-time football is a dream come true.
He has signed for National League North side Buxton after turning down a deal to stay at Edgar Street for a second season - with midfielder Tate Campbell following him to The Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
Having made the switch to full-time last summer, that appeared to be one of the deciding factors for 23-year-old Robinson, who came through the ranks at Leeds United and Manchester City.
Having then played for Port Vale and Kidderminster Harriers, he arrived at Edgar Street last summer, went on to make 36 appearances and was awarded Supporters’ Player of the Season.
On leaving Edgar Street after he was offered a deal, Robinson said it wasn't an easy decision but was needed due to "location and family commitments", doing what's best for his "beautiful young family".
Many fans felt he was far too good for National League North, but Robinson has now opened up about what attracted him to Buxton - a side who are making big additions to their squad after making the play-offs last season.
He said he likes how Buxton play football, passing the ball around, manager John McGrath had sold the move to him.
Robinson promised 100% commitment, 100% work passion, getting down and playing football but also doing the "dirty work as well if no one else wants to do it".
He added: "I've been wanting to get into back into full-time football so it's a dream come true."
