Ammonds: Speculation over Caddis's future is unhelpful and destabilising

Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds, centre, said speculation about manager Paul Caddis, left, is unhelpful
Speculation about Hereford manager Paul Caddis's future is unhelpful and fans should ignore it, the club's chairman has said.

Media reports have linked Caddis with a number of managerial vacancies, including AFC Fylde and Partick Thistle, and he was reportedly interviewed by the Scottish Championship club.

But Bulls chair Chris Ammonds has said the club won't comment on speculation and will only say something when there is something definitive to say.

In one of their regular 'chats' on the club's YouTube channel, general manager Jamie Griffiths asked Ammonds if the speculation was damaging, by having a negative impact on the feeling around Edgar Street and when trying to recruit players.

In reply, Ammonds said: "Yeah, I suspect it probably does, but I think it just destabilises, doesn't it?

"There's really no need for it. Any old fool can put a rumour on social media and make it sound real, can't they? I just say to people, just disregard it."

He said Caddis was working hard bringing in players and staff, and organising pre-season friendlies, and complimented the communication from the club and the boss over the last two seasons.

He added: "If we've got anything to say, trust us to come out and say it."

He said a club like Hereford will attract rumour and speculation, which was "unhelpful", and he tries to "ignore it and disregard it the vast majority of the time".

He reiterated Caddis is under contract for another season and the club are "absolutely delighted with him" and have shown their commitment by increasing the playing budget.
