Love them or hate them the officials are a vital component of football. Without them as an outlet you would have to face facts that you were demolished by a better team. These were omitted from the first few programmes of the season so slipped through the net, so here they are, the lives of football league referees in the early '70s. Dennis Turner who refereed the match against Stockport towards the end of the season also refereed the famous Newcastle matches the season before. Fortunately Andy Woolmer was only six years old during the 1972-73 season.
