Kyle Howkins is the latest player to join Hereford.
His signing was announced earlier this afternoon.
27 year old Howkins is a 6ft 5in defender who played in the second half for Hereford in their pre-season friendly at Pegasus last Saturday.
"Kyle Howkins stands at 6ft 5 with a brilliant physique and a character that I don’t think will be matched at this level," said manager Paul Caddis.
"He has single handedly recovered from a long term injury on his own – the mental strength, hard work, desire and character that takes from anyone in any walk of life has to be applauded.
"We are delighted to have Kyle with us having spent the previous 3 weeks training with the squad and I have been really impressed with the manner in which he carries himself.
"He has EFL experience and will add a physicality to us in both boxes. I am delighted Kyle has chosen to restart his football career with us rather than take the opportunities from levels above at this time in his career.
"I have promised from day one we will have a hard working team that will run through brick walls for the badge they are representing and Kyle is another addition to that."
Howkins started his career with West Bromwich and was loaned out to several teams including Kidderminster, Mansfield, Cambridge United and Port Vale.
In July 2019 he moved to Newport County and then in January 2021 went out on loan to Solihull where he sustained an ACL injury which has kept him out of the game until recently.
Howkins played for West Brom under 21's in a pre-season friendly at Edgar Street in July 2015.
Two years earlier he came on as a sub in another pre-season friendly against an under 21 side from West Brom.
'Good to be back after a long spell out. Thanks Hereford FC for the opportunity.'
