John-Lewis Brings Something Different Said Gowling

Lenell John-Lewis scored the first of Hereford's two goals yesterday and afterwards interim manager Josh Gowling was full of praise for his new striker.

"I think he is excellent," said Gowling.

"I think he brings something different. I think he holds the ball up really well. He works hard and he's got that experience and he brings other people into the game.

"He's not played a lot of football lately. It's just shows you what work he has been doing away from football to keep himself fit. I think he was excellent today."

His goal looked a bit like a cross that drifted into the net?

"I know Lenell and I said to Lenell that came off your shin didn't it. And he said no it didn't. He's saying it was a shot so I'll give him that."

Reece Styche?

"I spoke to Styche when he left and I thanked him for everything, he was a big character. Sometimes things don't just work out.

"I've been in clubs. You get there with all good intentions and then for whatever reasons things don't click. And I don't think it clicked for him, that's all.

"He's over at Bromsgrove now and I wish him all the best."

It's the HFA Cup at Lads Club on Tuesday.

"Toby (Raison) and Rob (Whitlock) have both been training with us. They are really good prospects for the football club. Toby is a good big strong center-half, he works hard in training and the reason why they are on the bench is because they've come into training and they haven't looked out of place.

"We want to give people from lower divisions a chance and we want to give youth a chance and that's what we will do at this football club.

"Players that haven't played today will be involved and the young lads will be involved as well so a good chance for us to have a look and for the fans to come down and see some of the youth players."

The game will be on a 3G pitch.

"3G finished me off so I won't be playing. It's a bit of a different surface but where we train is 3G so the lads are used to it and it won't be an issue."
