Academy Looking To 'Push On' As Club's New Strategy In Place

The chairman of Hereford's Academy says they are now looking to 'push on' as the club now have the new coaching set up in place.

With the club making changes to its structure, Paul Quarrell says any changes to the Academy are still a work in progress.

But at last week's fans forum it was said there's now going to be a bigger emphasis on the development of players.

"Initially we just had to get everything set up, everything put in place," Quarrell said.

"And now with the new strategy a coaching set up we're looking to push on with the academy.

"It's work in progress at the minute, once we get to sit down and put some plans together with the new coaching set up then we will get plans together going forward.

"As a club, we're looking for right from the under-12s to the first team to be just one unit."

Last night the under-18s beat Malvern Town 4-0 to progress to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Quarrell was pleased with youngsters' performance and watched the game alongside Gareth Davies.

"Fantastic performance from the boys," he added.

"All put in a good effort, some good shapes there. I sat talking to Gareth (Davies) during the match and everyone should be proud of themselves tonight, a great performance.

"Hopefully we can have a home draw again because we had a good crowd in tonight, nice to see so many parents and youngsters in here."
