Head Coach Dan Chance made one change to the side that beat Tipton in the previous round with Brandon Powell returning between the sticks.
Hereford got out of the blocks straight away by putting pressure on Malvern and within 3 minutes Hereford opened the scoring. A cross from Firkin deflected off a Malvern player falling at Joe Mellars' feet as he slotted the ball into the back of the net.
As Hereford started to try and command the game, the away side also began to grow into the game and tested Powell in the Hereford goal several times but were unable to get the equaliser.
Half way through the first half it was again the Welshman Mellars who doubled Hereford’s lead. Rob Whitlock’s pass found Mellars as he calmly slotted in for his second.
The latter part of the first half saw both sides create chances that tested the keepers and despite the 2 goal deficit Malvern continued to push to try and find a goal.
Half time: Hereford 2-0 Malvern Town
The second half saw the away side starting well as they looked to claw back the two goal deficit. However the Hereford defence stood firm,
Both Marston and Firkin had chances but were unable to convert. As it seemed the next goal would come from the visitors Hereford made it 3-0 with less than 15 minutes remaining. Rob Whitlock’s shot deflected off a Malvern player and into the Meadow End goal.
Hereford continued to push and Mellars came close to get his hatrick but was unable to convert. As the game entered into the closing stages Matt McLeod was brought down in the box and the referee awarded a penalty to the home side.
Jack Marston stepped up in front the Meadow End and slotted the ball past the Malvern keeper to make it 4-0. In the dying moments again Mellars came close to his hatrick but was again denied by the visitors goalkeeper.
