Former Hereford player Rob Purdie with Ryan Green, who's been named interim player-manager |
One of the first players recruited by Pete Beadle when he first joined Hereford as their first manager in 2015 says he's surprised that he was axed.
Fans favourite Rob Purdie, who retired from football this year to start a career as a firefighter, thinks that Beadle will be remembered fondly in time. Purdie has already spoken to former team-mate Ryan Green who's been named as interim player-manager.
He thinks that Green, along with interim Head of Football Gareth Davies, the Welsh duo are a good mix and hopes the players will be boosted by the managerial change, as is often the case.
The former utility player said: "I think when the dust settles, everyone will look back at what the club has achieved under his, including HUFC, and he will be remembered as a manager which started the HFC journey with a bang, delivered titles and at times football which everyone loved to watch.
"Going forward, I've already spoken to Greeny and I hope him and Gareth enjoy it tomorrow. I'm sure the team will get the customary boost of a new manager and go on a good run, and then who knows how far they can take it.
"Gareth's knowledge and and Greeny's passion will be a good mix. I'll be at the Truro game and pestering Greeny for a job."
Purdie also praised Pete Beadle, especially for his recruitment which is up there with former Hereford United manager Graham Turner's.

"It came as a bit of a surprise given the league placing and upcoming FA Cup game, but all good things have to come to an end," the 35-year-old added.
"Some people say with the budget, anyone could have done the job he did, but I don't believe that. His recruitment for three years was up there with Graham Turner's, finding the right player to fit in on the pitch and in the dressing room.
"His passion and desire to win every single game was unbelievable, and sometimes his frustration when we didn't win was misinterpreted, he just hated losing!"
