News Round Up

Chester have confirmed their captain for the coming season. Tough tackling midfielder Scott Burton, who joined the club this summer from Salford City, wasn't the only 'character' to chose from, but joint-boss Anthony Johnson told the Chester Chronicle 'he will be a very proud player with the armband on.'

Barrow's friendly against a Furness Select side was abandoned after striker Jack Blythe collided with advertising hoardings, suffering a dislocated shoulder. The 25-year-old signed for the Bluebirds last month after a injury-hit spell at Motherwell and hasn't played a league game since April 2017.

York City's Tom Allan has been told to be more aggressive after being forced off through injury in their first preseason friendly. The 23-year-old centre back only lasted five minutes after taking a knock to the knee. City chief Martin Gray told the York Press felt that a 'half-hearted' challenge contributed to Allan having to come off.

Former Hereford United defender Dom Collins says his injuries are now behind him. He told Darlington's official website that is was frustrating he couldn't help the team last season, but he's now fully recovered.

AFC Telford United manager Gavin Cowan doesn't think former manger Liam Watson will have any advantage when his Southport side travel to Telford for the first game of the season. Cowan told the Shropshire Star that it's irrelevant that Watson knows the club because of how much things have changed over the past few seasons.
