This weekend Hereford are back in league action with a 230 mile round trip into Buckinghamshire to face Chesham United at The Meadow.
On Tuesday night the Bulls became the first side to visit Kettering Town and come away with all three points this season. The 3-1 win moved back into 4th place in the league with four games in hand. Goals from Eliot Richards and John Mills gave the Bulls a 2-0 half time lead. Mike Symons then scored a third after Kettering pulled a goal back in the last ten minutes.
While Hereford looked vulnerable at times, with Kettering given a handful of chances to equalise, the Bulls were the better team and generated far more space to pass the ball into. There was no sign of fatigue after the recent heavy schedule with Hereford in the end comfortably beating potential promotion candidates.
Pete Beadle made six changes in midweek to the side that won 3-2 against Dagenham in the Trophy on Sunday. Martin Horsell returned between the sticks with Ryan Green coming back into the side after being rested on the weekend. Dan Preston dropped to the bench after solid performances in recent weeks along with Jimmy Oates who was left out of the side. This saw Cameron Pring come in at left back.
In Midfield Calvin Dinsley and Eliot Richards returned with the latter being cup-tied last Sunday. On the wings Billy Murphy and Keyon Reffell started with Garyn Preen dropping to the bench. Up front the leagues current top scorer John Mills was partnered by Mike Symons who was impressive throughout.
Chesham united are placed 11th in the league coming into the weekend. They were in Trophy action on Tuesday night as they lost 2-0 to Western Super Mare in the start of the challenging schedule. The Generals lost to 3rd placed Weymouth two games ago and
While the Generals convincingly beat 8th placed Frome 5-1 two games ago, the 1-0 loss to 3rd place Weymouth and 3-1 loss to 13th placed Stratford Town has shown all the hallmarks of a mid-table side.
With the Bulls, Slough and Tiverton scheduled in the next four games it will be known by new year whether this inconsistent side can push for promotion.
Slough striker Joe Iaciofano boasts an impressive record of 17 goals in 18 starts in all competitions this season with strike partner Lewis Toomey on 11 from 20 starts. John Meakesbecame manager last March and guided the team to mid table come the end of the season, a position they sit comfortably in again this year.
As title contenders the Bulls should be in for another win on the road to add to their run of 48 games unbeaten in the league.
