Southern Prem Tuesday Review

A look back at last night's results in the Southern Premier League written by Steve Whitney.

Trio Make It Back-To-Back Wins In the Evo-Stik South Premier

Banbury United, King`s Lynn Town and Kettering Town lead the way in the Evo-Stik League South Premier after Tuesday night`s round of matches – all earning back-to-back victories.
But there was more misery for relegated Gosport Borough, who were hit or six and have no points from their two games.
Banbury followed up last Saturday`s 5-1 hammering of Dorchester Town with a 3-1 success at The Meadow against a Chesham United outfit who had also won their opener.
Tom Winters gave the Puritans a 34th minute lead that Conor McDonagh added to just before the hour-mark.
Shane Bush replied for the new-look Generals a couple of minutes later, only for veteran Jefferson Louis to confirm Banbury`s win with a third in stoppage time.
King`s Lynn followed last weekend`s win at home to Gosport with a best-of-five win at relegated Bishop`s Stortford.
The Linnets found themselves 2-0 up with goals from Craig Parker after 7 minutes and Leon Mettam 5 minutes later.
Jason Williams pulled one back for the Blues just before half-time, only for Michael Gash to restore the visitors` two-goal advantage 2 minutes after the break.
Darren Foxley pulled a second back for the hosts, but it came 2 minutes into stoppage time.
A crowd of 606 at Latimer Park saw Kettering earn a last-gasp win against a Redditch United side who had hit Dunstable Town for five last Saturday.
A goalless draw looked on the cards until Lindon Meikle popped up with a Poppies winner 3 minutes into time added on at the end of the game.

A terrific crowd of 2,424 welcomed Hereford FC`s Premier homecoming as they also won late on at home to the side who came up with them from the South West section, Tiverton Town.
A penalty 10 minutes from time from the prolific John Mills sealed the Bulls success.

Gosport, beaten 2-0 at King`s Lynn on the opening day, suffered a thorough 5-1 spanking at Privett Park by Slough Town.
Matt Lench gave the Rebels a great start with a goal inside 5 minutes.
Chris Flood doubled that on 27 minutes to take the visitors into the break two-up.

Alek Przespolewski reduced the arrears 4 minutes after the interval, but that`s as good as it got for Boro as Flood from the penalty spot on 53 minutes, Josh Jackman on 77 minutes and James Dobson in stoppage time made it a nap hand for the Rebels.

Gosport join Bishop`s Stortford, Dunstable Town, Basingstoke Town, who lost on Monday night, Weymouth, and Royston Town, who play tonight, in still searching for a first point in 2017/18.
Dunstable suffered a 4-1 Creasey Park defeat to Kings Langley, who were two-up inside 12 minutes through Gareth Price and Mitchell Weiss.
Kieran Turner added a third after 27 minutes, and after Daniel Trif had reduced the deficit 11 minutes after the break, Price added his second and Kings` fourth 20 minutes from time.
Biggleswade were another to record their first win after an opening day defeat – earning a 2-1 success at St Ives Town with goals from Shane Hill after 7 minutes and a Kai McKenzie-Lyle own goal 5 minutes from time after Peter Clark had levelled after 70 minutes.
Stratford Town and Merthyr Town shared a 2-2 draw in the evening`s other game.
Jarrad Wright put the Martyrs in front after 27 minutes and Scott Tancock doubled their lead in the 38th minute.
Crucially, Jazz Luckie reduced the arrears 5 minutes before the break, and 5 minutes after it, Ed Ahenkorah pulled the home side back on level terms.
