Hereford FC have discussed the possibility of moving the scheduled game against Bideford to a different kick-off time or even date to avoid clashing with Westfields FA Cup Tie, but to no avail.
This from Hereford FC:
In response to a number of enquiries posed in recent days, Hereford FC officials can confirm they have discussed the possibility of changing the date or kick off time of the home game against Bideford on Saturday 5 November, so that it does not clash with the FA Cup First Round tie between near-neighbours Westfields, from the Midland Football League, and National League North side, Curzon Ashton.
Hereford FC Club Secretary, Martin Watson, has spoken to officials from the Football Association (FA), the Southern League and Bideford AFC about potentially moving the Bulls’ home fixture from 3pm that day, but, having looked at a number of options, it has been accepted that it is simply not possible given the short notice, the league regulations that are in place, and the length of the journey Bideford will be undertaking to Edgar Street that weekend.
For clarity, this means the Southern League Division One South & West clash will therefore kick off, as originally planned, at 3pm on Saturday 5 November.
Bulls officials understand that some people will be disappointed that the two matches will be played simultaneously, which is why – with Westfields having liaised with the relevant bodies in relation to their FA Cup fixture being at 3pm on 5 November – Hereford FC were willing to explore every available option in terms of moving their own home game.
However, this afternoon the Bulls received definitive notification from Bideford Town FC that they are unable to agree to any meaningful change to the date or time of the match that would alleviate the clash of fixtures.
Everyone at Edgar Street would like to wish Westfields the best of luck ahead of their cup tie against Curzon Ashton – hopefully there will be a win double on the football field for the city that day.
