We Won And Kept A Clean Sheet Said Beadle

Peter Beadle With Matt Bishop
Hereford manager Peter Beadle spoke to the press after the 1-0 victory over Salisbury this afternoon.

"We won and we kept a clean sheet which was obviously important," said Beadle.

"We got the goal which was vital and had a couple of chances second half.

"First half we had a lot of possession without creating a huge amount of chances.

"Second half became a little more fifty/fifty and I thought we had the better chances but they had a chance at the end.

"Martin pulled off an absolutely fantastic save to keep it 1-0.

"But I thought over the ninety we probably shaved it just. But as we said before the game it doesn't matter what the score is there is another game to go.

"I was more pleased with the clean sheet, that's four on the bounce since the Highgate game. It's important we keep doing that and take that into Saturday.

"We've got our noses in front ever so slightly but the most important thing is we won the game, that's four wins on the bounce, four clean sheets on the bounce.

"It's important we do the same thing next week, work hard, work on our shape.

"We made poor decisions second half as a team, quite a lot of players were making bad choices in the second half because it was starting to get frantic.

"As the game wore on, only being 1-0 up, they started to feel a little bit of the pressure.

"We'll forgive them that but next week that won't be acceptable because at the end of the day we'll try and win every game.

"We know that every game we play we know we'll come under pressure at sometime but we've got to deal with it better than we did today because we didn't deal with it as well as we have done but we got away with it.

"Martin thankfully when he was called on made a fantastic save."

Mike Symons started up front with John Mills on the bench.

"John is not in great form since Christmas, he's been a little bit up and down and we just felt that with Mike he gives us a bit more balance because he keeps the ball a little bit better because that's his game.

"And we knew which sort of shape they were going to play so we thought it was important we had that also knowing one or two of players in size and things like that it was important we match up that way so well.

"We just think that we've looked a bit more balanced with Mike up there recently and John's got a chance to get his mojo back on.

"I thought he was fantastic Tuesday for 120 minutes and he's got his goal. Obviously he's bitterly disappointed he didn't start today but we've got next week and who knows he could be our match winner next week. We know what he is about but we just felt we needed something different today and again it's worked, we've won the game 1-0.

"I know what my team is about, I know what they bring to the table. If they perform then it will take a tough team to stop us. I don't think there have been many games we haven't scored in, Highgate we lost 2-0 before then it's hard to think of a game we didn't score a goal.

"We know we've got goals in our team, it's a shame we couldn't score another one. A two goal lead going away from home is even more comfortable even though it's not the end of the game but it would have been nicer.

"The first priority today was to win the game and we'll try and win both games. And we'll go there and try and win there as well."

Back to Horsell's save at the Meadow End.

"It was an unbelievable save and gives us that little bit of an edge going there but we know that it's only one goal and we've been here before when we've been a goal up and teams claw their way back into the game and we got a whole 90 minutes to go.

"First mission was to win the game today and we've done that. If it had been 1-1 so be it, it means we go there and we've still got a game to play but it would have been level pegging.

"It makes a small difference but in the bigger picture it wouldn't have made a huge amount of difference."

Mustapha Bundu had a touch of cramp and was subbed.

Mike Symons Gives Mustapha Bunda A Hand After The Latter Has A Touch Of Cramp
"It's a big occasion and Musta is 18 years of age and there's 5,000 people here and he knows what's at stake and he got a little cramp but that will be nervous energy that's gone through him this week, preparation for the game, and the game itself will have got the better of him. A slight bit of cramp, nothing more than that.

"Pablo's is a little bit different. Just felt it tightening up a little bit but no problems, perfect. We brought him off, give him time to recover next week.

"Else from that, everyone is fine."
