We Were Good At Both Ends Of The Pitch

Peter Beadle
Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle spoke to the press following this evening's 4-0 victory over Sporting Khalsa.

"I thought we were good at both ends of the pitch tonight, going forward and defensively," said Beadle.

"I thought we did extremely well and it's a nice, healthy, comfortable result for us. It could have been a few more!

"Delighted to get the win and to score the goals and even more delighted with the clean sheet."

Hereford were 2-0 ahead at the break.

"A lot of games we play we do have a lot of possession and sometimes it takes a little longer to make it count but as shown in the last couple of games going in 1-0 up.

"We need to make sure we come out and stay resiliant in the second half. We did it at Hartley exceptionally well.

"But the second goal gives you a little bit of a cushion and then it's vital for the next ten minutes we stay strong and organised and don't give them a chance to get back into the game.

"Obviously with the wind blowing down the slope a little bit today they did have a bit of possession first ten minutes but we weathered it and then we got the third goal.

"Their player being sent off was a bit of a blow to them but it opened the pitch up for us and then we had numberous chances to seal it even more.

"But we're just happy with the victory and with the clean sheet."

Interviewer Trevor Owens mentioned that in the first half some of the corners could beat the first defender.

"We don't aim to hit the first defender - it's not as easy as it looks.

"I challenge anyone to come down here and put the ball by the corner flag and say right miss the first defender!

"But we know we've got quality in there and when we did finally start putting a few in there with a bit of quality we started causing problems.

"Muss (Bundu) done great the get the goal, great leap and a good header.

"It settled us down and we went from there."

Bundu scored a hat-trick.

"Fantastic night, but I've been highly critical of him behind the scenes because he has got so much potential as we saw just before he scored the second goal with the chance he had trying to flick it - I don't know what he was trying to do.

"If he wants to progress in the game he has to be more clinical. He got to take those chances. You can't just keep missing all the time.

"I'm delighted he got his hat-trick, a real bonus for him and he's played well.

"But his game is evolving, and he's still learning but he is a gfantastic talent."

Goal of the night came from Pablo Haysham.

"We know what he is about and we know he can do those sorts of things.

"It was a fantastic pass from Joel (Edwards)  and it was a true confident finish. Flicked it over once, then twice, and slotted it away.

"I though he was exceptional tonight. He had a little bit of a break last Saturday with his persistent groin problem that he has had.

"But the break has done him the world of good because I thought he was excellent tonight.

"Him and Mike up top, Mike especially did a lot of unselfish stuff and put in another good performance and another day could have got a goal or two. Maybe his chance will come on Saturday."

John Mills was on the bench but didn't play.

"John has had a bit of a sore toe and it has become quite swollen and sore and before the game we were not going to involve him.

"But he was quite persistent that he wanted to play but we had already picked the team and I was quite comfortable with the team we had picked.

"So we put him on the bench and didn't have to use him tonight which gives him a bit more of a rest before Saturday.  And gives us a nice Headache for Saturday now."

Nathan Summers missed the game through illness.

"There's obviously a bit of a bug going around.

"Nathan rang me early this morning and said he felt awful so with Ryan (Green) suspended Saturday it is imperative that he gets himself sorted out and hopefully he will be available and hopefully Martin (Horsell) as well."
