In his post match interview after their 3-1 defeat by Hereford this evening in the Midland League cup, Alvechurch manager Ian Long first spoke about their possible goal which was disallowed.
"Obviously we appealed from where we were but I was unsure, we couldn't see.
"The linesman wasn't too close to the corner flag so I think it was also difficult for him.
"Our players reactions, I don't think they were too sure either in all fairness.
"I thought we had a good spell in the first half, we hit the post. There was a bit of a ping ball in the box where it could have gone anywhere but the keeper ended up saving it.
"When we got the goal, it's criminal then to go and conceed within a minute.
"I think if we had just got ourselves into half-time then come out and weathered the first ten minutes.
"Obviously with them attacking the Meadow End they were going to come at us.
"To conceed that goal was sacrilege really right on the stroke of half time.
"I think there was a bit of luck in their second goal. I think we could have had a free kick on the far side but it was given to Hereford.
"And he's gone to strike it and mis-kicked it and then he has struck second time very well and it's flow in.
"Again a little bit disappointed with the penalty although I would have to look at it again. It just looked like shoulder to shoulder from where I was. Referee was obviously closer.
"All in all disappointed to go out of the Cup, it's a good competition with the final at the Banks Stadium."
It was pointed out to Alvechurch manager that his fixture list wouldn't be quite long now.
"There is that!
"There is that!
"Hereford has got the FA Vase on Saturday, I wish them luck with that representing the Midland League.
"And they got a tie against Highgate away in this cup.
"Hopefully we'll be able to catch up a few on the fixtures."
