Both Teams Put A Good Shift In Said Beadle

In an interview with BBC Hereford and Worcester after today's 2-0 victory over Brocton in the FA Vase, the Hereford manager felt Brocton deserved some credit for the way they had played.

"For the conditions we had today, I thought both teams put a good shift in," said Peter Beadle.

"Both played in the right way and they gave us a really good test today.

"We think we need to be better than that in the coming weeks if we are going to progress further in the competition."

Mustapha Bundu opened the scoring for Hereford.

"We were shouting at him. He's supposed to be on the near post but it was a great delivery (From a Rob Purdie corner) and he's got in the way of the eye-line of the keeper and he's got in front of him and headed it him so it was a great time to score just before half-time especially going into the wind as strong as it was."

Second half the wind was behind Hereford as they played towards the Meadow End.

"Any ball over the top was going to skid away, run through as it did for them so we needed to make sure we were a bit more incisive with our passing. And we weren't quite there. We didn't keep the ball for long enough and we didn't wear them down.

"They stayed in the game right to the very end which is a credit to them."

Mike Symons came on as a substitute.

"He should have scored, first touch. He tried to bring it down inside the six yard box, he should have just hit it. If he had hit it first time he (the keeper) wouldn't have been in the way to save it.

"He's a quality player. You don't play at the level he's played at over the last six or seven years. He brings a huge amount of quality, probably a bit unlucky to find himself on the bench today. But he showed his worth when he came on and showed a good bit of quality to get the penalty."
