We Didn't Quite Have That Zip Today Said Beadle

Pete Beadle Taking To The Squad After The Game
After this afternoon's 2-0 win over Quorn, Hereford FC manager Pete Beadle gave his thoughts on the game to BN.

"It was always going to be a tough game," said Beadle.

"And I felt we didn't quite have the zip to move them around like we have done previously.

"I thought they did well, I thought they were really well organised and kept at it.

"I think our energy levels weren't quite there for whatever reason.

"You can never always put your finger on it when it comes down to things like that. Technically or tactically you can work out but when that energy is not quite there is it hard to get it out of them.

"But I thought they responded really well at half time and came out winning the possession from the kick-off which led onto the goal.

"Sometimes that momentum, you win the first one that lifts the crowd, then we win the next one then we get a corner and then eventually we get the goal. It was just extra sort of little boost we needed.

"We didn't badly today, we played well. I think we moved the ball well at times and again second half we did create some chances but we didn't quite have that zip today.

"The staff will have a chat about it and we may rest one of two for Tuesday.

"You look at the bench today. All of those lads I think would be starters at any other team where we are now so hopefully we can change it a little bit, give one or two a rest and then we'll kick off from there and hopefully get a bit of zip back on Tuesday and a bit more again on Saturday."

Beadle wasn't certain how many of the youth team would feature against Westfields on Tuesday evening.

"Don't know yet, we need to see on Monday how everybody is after today. They all say they are okay now but come tomorrow they might have a little ache or pain somewhere.

"But we want to try and keep them involved even if it's just in and around, may be on the bench one or two.

"We'll see how we are injury wise and knock wise then we'll move on from there."

After Westfields on Tuesday it's another Cup game on Saturday at Rocester.

"Another nice trip!

"Obviously everyone has memories of the last time we played there and how things didn't start well.

"But again I think we're a different team now to what we were then, but it's going to be a tough game again and we've just got to go there and keep our standards up and keep doing the things we've been doing.

"Apart from a few things today we were never really troubled in front of our own goal and we got to make sure we continue that as that gives us a good platform to play off.

"Next game is Tuesday, make sure we do that properly and put out a team we think can win the game and then we move onto, in my opinion, a much bigger game on Saturday.

"The league cup is a good competition and one we want to do well in but it's not a priority.

"The priorities are the Vase and the League.

"We'll get a team out for Tuesday and give Westfields the respect they deserve by putting a team out that will be competitive and a team I think can win the game and then we're start thinking about Saturday."
