Hereford FC chairman Jon Hale has issued a plea to supporters to keep off the pitch when celebrating a goal. The club recently enforced its first banning order.
"We do have an issue with supporters encroaching onto the field of
play, especially whilst celebrating goals. Admittedly so far these
encroachments have mostly been in good spirits, but it is still not
acceptable to cross the perimeter barriers at any point.
“We have recently had to enforce our first banning order at Edgar Street following an incident of a fan encroaching onto the pitch. It is not a decision we take lightly, but we are committed to making sure that we, as a set of fans, become known for our big following, our fantastic vocal support, and most importantly, our good behaviour.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to remind all supporters that it is not acceptable for anyone to pass the barriers that surround the pitch, even if it is through celebration.
“If this sort of behaviour continues then we could see the League, or the FA begin to take action against us, which could result in a heavy fine and/or a points deduction."
