Sat 23 and Sun 24 May 2015
Following on from the absolutely incredible work that was achieved by our volunteers over the weekend of Sat 9 and Sun 10 May, when we managed to amass over 250 hours of work making over 350 in total – we are asking for help yet again.
I offer each and everyone one of you my personal thanks for the fantastic effort you expended in the cause of restoring our club. I'll not go into detail here but you all know of the particularly unsavoury items some of you dealt with. “Thank you” is totally inadequate and yet again your team spirit was evident in everything you tackled.
To those people who brought a lot of materials, wipes, gloves, paint, dust pans and brushes, new saws, old towels, etc etc …. also a big “Thank You”, I'm sure they will all be used in time.
Incidentally, the excuse from BBC Midlands today and BBC H&W for their “no show” was that the general election took up too much of their time to pay us a visit. Never mind, maybe next time!
The intention on 23 – 24 May is that we have just a couple of small areas to clear of rubbish …. honest! Then we will be starting on sprucing up the old place. Windows to clean, gutters to clean out and wipe (we think they are white) bit of sweeping here and there, generally much better and more acceptable than the previous weekend. There is a lot of preparation work to do before we start painting, so again, the more volunteers we can have working the easier and quicker it will be for all. We had a lot of fun and many of you said it was good to be back amongst fans again so hopefully we will have a bumper turnout again.
Attached is a list of items we would ask you to bring you with – not all will need all the items but again please “be prepared” and bring what you are able to lay a hand on.
Same system again for the next work party, therefore, if you are able to fulfil your offer to volunteer with Hereford FC then please just press “Reply” to this email. There are only three possible answers to pick from. If you are intending to join us on Saturday 23rd would you please just “Reply” to this email and in the Subject Heading enter only – “YES – Day 1”, or, if you are only coming on Sunday 24th it is “YES – 2,” or, for both Saturday and Sunday enter “Yes Both days” - please do not enter any more information in the email text part as we will not be opening the emails.
Volunteer Domestic Team
We are still looking to form a team of “committed” volunteers to join Sharon, Stephen and Catherine (who have already signed-up) to make up a team to keep our stadium clean for the long term. We will need 12 or more for the coming season(s) and anyone can join, male or female and any age. We are particularly keen to share the work of keeping our stadium spick and span among as many fans as possible to lighten the work load for everyone.
It will involve cleaning offices and public areas, players’ dressing rooms, corridors, social rooms and anything else you decide. Make no mistake this will be a very important team and whilst it may not appear to be the most glamorous role, it certainly will be a much valued contribution to what Hereford FC is seeking to achieve.
We want the team members to decide for themselves how they will work be that on a rota system or all together and your personal speciality and preferences for undertaking the type of work we need to do. This way we hope to be as flexible as possible. Basically, something for everyone and in the fullness of time we will even be providing the cleaning materials … not you! If you’re interested in joining the team, then please email volunteers@herefordfc.co.uk.
Hereford FC Volunteers
General Information
To make best use of your time can you please bring as many as possible of the items below. Hopefully then you will be self-sufficient thus avoiding a queue for the paint brush! Don't worry if you can't bring some items – it's not compulsory just advisory.
However, the list is not exhaustive so if you think of something that will help you in your “clean up” please bring it.
All entering the stadium will be requested to sign in (legible please) and to record times in and out and mobile phone number if you have one. This is important in the event of fire or any emergency both in the stadium or with your families.
Also please have a piece of paper - on your person - with your personal identification – legible please - i.e. your name and address also name of your next-of-kin with address (if different) doctor and surgery and nok phone number. This is a precaution just in case of illness, accident or emergency we may need to know who you are and who to contact.
Please note, we regret but Hereford FC will not be in a position to meet any incidental costs you may incur in volunteering your services i.e. loss of earnings, car parking, travel costs, parking fines, subsistence, damage to clothing, etc.
