Dyfed Elias 1938-2015

News has reached us that former Bull Dyfed Elias has died at the age of 77.

This from Ron Parrott:

Born Borth, June 1938, died April 2015
United’s third close-season signing in 1958 from Aston Villa where he was on their books at £750, 20-year-old Dyfed turned down offers from Aldershot and Southend and signed for Hereford at the end of July 1958. An inside-forward or wing-half, he started his career with Aberystwyth and played for the Welsh youth team before signing professional forms for Villa in 1957. Dyfed played in Villa’s Central League and Birmingham League sides and was studying to become a schoolteacher at the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce College.

Joe Wade persuaded him to sign for Hereford but had to fix him up at Herefordshire Technical College, where he continued studying. Dyfed spent two seasons at Edgar Street, making 51 appearances and scoring three goals. He was reluctantly released by the Club to study full time for his degree. He later played for Romford and also appeared on the TV programme “Mastermind”.

Cremation at Colwyn Bay Crematorium at 1145 am on 22 May 15, and service at 1pm Presbyterian Church, Llandudno.
