Cinderford Become Second Side To Cause Cup Upset

Just 180 Hereford United fans watched tonight's Red Insure Cup match at Edgar Street with the home side dumped out of the competition by Cinderford before the First Round.

The club announced standard admission prices - £10 adult, £5 concession, and free for under 14's - for the Preliminary Round tie despite the competition being regarded as a reserve team fixture by many sides, leading to a total attendance of just 226 with a small storm on social media criticising the club over the full price move with three home games in a week.

Manager Jon Taylor made seven changes to the starting eleven and Cinderford had Josh Emery, son of former Bull Steve Emery, in their starting XI

HEREFORD UNITED 2 CINDERFORD TOWN 2 (AET, CINDERFORD WON 4-3 ON PENS)
Cinderford Town are through to the first round of the Red Insure Cup after beating Hereford in a penalty shoot-out at Edgar Street on Tuesday.
Adam Powell, Ethan Moore, Garyn Preen, and Ryan Paddock scored their four penalties to secure their victory.
Jake Hall made his debut for the Bulls in midfield.
Cinderford were the first to have an attempt on goal with central defender Lorcan Sheehan sweeping a long cross into the goalmouth testing United goalkeeper Will Viner.
United replied with Harry Agombar putting Cinderford under pressure with the first corner of the game, which was headed clear by Jack Oldham.
Sergio Mor-Diop then outpaced his marker, but his low shot flashed across the face of the Cinderford goalmouth from an acute angle.
But it took a fine save from Hereford stopper Viner to prevent Ethan Moore putting Cinderford in front with a rasping shot from the edge of the area.
Four minutes later Daniel O'reilly cleared the Cinderford crossbar from long range, while Mor-Diop had a close range header saved on the line by goalkeeper Alex Harris.
Cinderford, however, were unlucky not to take the lead on the half hour, when a goal bound shot from George Lloyd was cleared off the line by Adrian Barrientos.
Barrientos also had a chance to break the deadlock shortly afterwards when he chipped the ball over the top of the Cinderford goalmouth from six yards.
Play continued to switch from end to end with Moore forcing another save from Viner before heading wide from a Garyn Preen free kick.
Cinderford made one substitution at the start of the second half with Ryan Paddock replacing Danny Haile.
Hereford stepped up a gear with Steve Vetier forcing another save from Harris, while a shot from Gary O'Neill flashed wide of the far post.
Harris also made a fine stop to deny Mor-Diop in the 63rd minute, before Jacob Morgan replaced Lloyd in the Cinderford attack.
Morgan, however, missed a guilt edged chance two minutes later when he shot straight at Viner from close range.
The deadlock was eventually broken with 13 minutes remaining when Preen lashed his low drive into the net from the edge of the penalty area.
Hereford, however, levelled with a minute remaining when O'Neill beat Harris from the penalty spot to take the game into extra time after the goalkeeper had brought down Sam Akinde in the area.
Akinde put Hereford in front in the 109th minute, but Cinderford rallied to claim an equaliser seven minutes later when Moore rifled the ball into the net from the penalty spot.
