Macclesfield are waiting on investment talks before they can begin planning for next season.
The Silkmen have limped through the current season financially thanks to their FA Cup run, with Director Andy Scott telling their official site: "The FA Cup is a major reason we got to where we are now, and the banana skin of Vauxhall Motors was swept aside before one of the best performances I’ve ever seen at the Moss Rose saw us destroy Swindon on a brilliantly entertaining FA Cup Saturday afternoon.
"It’s no secret that last summer we were on the brink of the Football Club ceasing to exist. We simply didn’t know if we were going to make it to Christmas, let alone to the end of the season, so from that perspective, the moment they took to the field against Alfreton (on the final day), it had to be regarded as a success.
"When John (Askey) and I sat down in June last year to discuss the forthcoming season anything above 20th place would have been gladly welcomed. The whole plan was to stay in the Football Conference and give us an opportunity to build for the future."
Scott also admitted early bird season ticket sales at the club had been slow due to the uncertainty still facing them. Boss Askey also told the site of his current frustration as the club wait for investment:
"The financial situation makes it very difficult for me to start to plan for next season and to start to try putting together a squad for the campaign. We have to hope that something comes from these takeover talks so we can move forward and look towards next season."
