News Round-Up

Lincoln defender Andrew Boyce will join Scunthorpe in the January transfer window after the League Two side triggered a release clause in his contract. The former Gainsborough man, 24, has been the Imps' best player so far this season, with the Sincil Bank outfit rejecting an offer from the Iron to take the player on loan now. The Imps have loaned young pair Karl Cunningham and Jordan Thomas to Eastwood Town for an initial month.

Both Grimsby and Scunthorpe have written to 'risk' fans telling them not to attend the two sides' FA Cup replay even if they have tickets. A heavy Police presence will be at the game. A 16 year old from Chester has escaped with a Police caution after letting off a flare at Edgar Street on Tuesday. He was detained shortly after igniting the device, but was released later that evening after being interviewed.

Boston have announced plans for a 4,300 capacity stadium on a 250 acre site on the edge of the town, with the lease on their current ground expiring in four years. The ground will be surrounded by 500 new homes and a possible supermarket in a venture proposed by a building company owned by the club's chairman.

Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker says the club's FA Cup First Round exit means that the board have had to refuse permission to manager Mark Yates to sign a player this week. Baker told a fans forum last night the club had budgeted to make a loss of £150,000 this season, and funds were already tight with disappointing revenue so far this term.

Accrington boss James Beattie has acknowledged that the club is under a transfer embargo after failing to pay the taxman their latest instalment on time. Beattie, who paid an August tax bill himself, says the club now have the money and will clear the bill in time to sign loan players before the deadline at the end of the month.

Braintree have signed defender Exodus Geohaghon on a short term deal. The 6ft5in ex-Mansfield man left Worcester earlier in the month after refusing to be cup-tied. Cambridge have extended the loan of forward Kwesi Appiah until mid-December. The Crystal Palace man has netted six times in 11 Conference games during his first two months with the U's.
