Salisbury FC were formed in 1947 although there are records
of a Salisbury side going back to the late nineteenth century. From the mid-sixties they spent the majority
of their time in the Southern League.
In 1992 they changed their name to Salisbury City and in 1997 they moved
from their old Victoria Park ground to a new purpose built stadium in Old Sarum
a few miles north of Salisbury before debuting in The Conference Premier in
2007/8 largely on the back of goals from the prolific Matt Tubbs. Financial difficulties resulted in a
two-division demotion but “The Whites” have fought their way back and currently
sit in sixth place in the Skrill Prem.
Visiting fans are accommodated on the Hop Back side of the
ground where both seats and standing areas are available. Admission is believed to be £14 for adults,
£12 for seniors, £10 for students and free to U16’s.

SIGHTSEEING/ALEHOUSES – Those able to travel early in the
day may wish to visit Stonehenge, which is just seven miles away. There are a goodly number of fine
drinking/eating establishments in Salisbury.
Anyone wanting just a good choice of well-kept ales would do well to
seek out the Duke of York in York Street.
The Kings Head on Bridge Street is the local ‘Spoons/Lloyds. The Salisbury City clubhouse usually admits
visitors and serves Hop Back beers as well as a variety of freshly prepared
rolls. The nearest pub is the
Harvester, which is a mile away towards Salisbury.
