News Round-Up

Accrington Managing Director Rob Heys has been suspended from all football activity for 21 months, and fined £1,000, after admitting a number of charges in relation to betting. In a statement, Heys says there were 735 breaches spanning 10 years including 231 instances of betting on Accrington games - but says he lost over £2000 on these 'small stake' bets overall. Heys says he is appealing the length of the suspension.

Forest Green have appointed former Tamworth manager Marcus Law to their coaching staff on a part time basis. Manager Dave Hockaday has signed keepers Adam McHugh and Paul White to one year deals. The young pair will act as cover for no.1 Sam Russell with current benchwarmer Matt Bulman wanting to go out on loan. Former Bulls forward Mark Beesley has joined Evo-Stik side Burscough from Skelmersdale.

Salisbury have signed former Newport midfielder Jake Thomson. The 24 year old was released by the Exiles earlier in the summer, and had a loan spell at Lincoln last term. Departed Gateshead manager Anth Smith says he attempted to withdraw his resignation after quitting in the aftermath of their loss to Barnet at the weekend, but the news had already leaked out of the dressing room via social media leaving a reversal difficult.
