News Round-Up


Macclesfield have released midfielder Darren Murphy by mutual consent just two weeks after signing a deal to the end of the season. The Irishman expressed a wish to return home. Grimsby striker Liam Hearn has returned to training ahead of schedule and hopes to be playing within weeks. The 27 year old ruptured an achilles in training back in August and was expected to miss the entire season.

Lincoln manager David Holdsworth is refusing to panic despite his side's slide down the table. The Imps have slid down to 18th place after collecting just six points from the last 27. Luton boss Paul Buckle is reported to be under pressure after failing to win any of his last four Conference games. Reports claim former Luton midfielder Stephen Robinson, currently Northern Ireland's u17 and u19 manager, is the Hatters' choice to replace him.

Former Bull Michael Rose has signed for Rochdale following his release from Colchester. The 30 year old has agreed non-contract terms with the League Two side. Newport have signed striker Rhys Griffiths following his release from Plymouth. The 32 year old was prolific in the Welsh Premier before a surprise summer move to the League Two side, but he failed to impress following the step up.

Coventry have lost the services of manager Mark Robins, after just five months, after he chose to leave in favour of Huddersfield. The Sky Blues are rumoured to be on the verge of a winding up petition over unpaid rent, with the local council claiming owners SISU are planning to build their own £30million stadium outside the city. Southend have been handed another winding-up petition by the taxman. The club say they were just three days late with the payment when the proceedings were launched.

Gateshead are to seek out an alternative venue to complete their Conference home matches if they cannot resolve their ongoing pitch problems. The Heed have played nine of their last ten games away from home, and hosted only one game in three months. Remedial work done so far has not been effective, with manager Anth Smith admitting he doesn't expect them to play on the International Stadium surface again this term.
