Preview: Bulls vs Braintree

The Bulls entertain Braintree Town in a Conference match at Edgar Street on Saturday.

The two sides have never met before, with the visitors being a county league level side into the 1980's before adopting their current name and progressing up the levels in recent seasons. After five years in Conf South they won promotion in May 2011 as champions, and ended last season in mid-table in their first ever Conference tilt.

The Bulls will patch up and put out what they can for tomorrow's match. The 14 players deemed fit by Martin Foyle in the press this morning has been added to by Kyle Perry, who has a stint under assistant boss Andy Porter at Port Vale to his name. The 16th name on the teamsheet may be another late surprise, with Conference rules allowing signings up to just four hours ahead of kick-off. Several of the Bulls squad faced Braintree with their former clubs last term, with both Marley Watkins and Sean Canham scoring against them for Bath.

Braintree have been slightly disappointed with their start to the season after a creditable debut last term. The addition of striker Dan Holman seemed to kick-start them with the former Histon man netting four times in his opening three games. But he went on a five game barren spell before netting in each of his last two including one of the goals in their shock win over Luton on Tuesday night, their third win on the road this season. Holman's six goals makes him their top scorer, with Bradley Quinton - who the normally reliable Soccerbase claim is aged 14 - on three goals in second place.
