Hereford United chairman David Keyte has told BBC Hereford and Worcester that the club has started to receive money and other help from supporters in the hope that administration can be avoided. The first bill that has to be paid is £35K for PAYE and Keyte is hopeful that will happen.
"It's enormously hearting that people are starting to respond,"said Keyte.
"(Earlier) The website crashed because of the interest and support.
"People have walked in with cheques, telephoned in.
"I've just met a guy who is an Everton supporter and he's come in with two youngsters to buy them Hereford United shirts.
"We did a deal to pay the VAT man £2,000 a week but, I believe I'm right in saying, that will be compromised if we can't pay the £35K PAYE bill.
"Very much in the authorities hands.
"But I think the way through is in bite-sized chunks in the same way as £10 is very well received as much as a £1000. It will all add up.
"I think we have a good chance of hitting the £35K PAYE bill.
"And then another target, giving the players and management something towards pay-day on Friday next week."
