Paul Tierney from Lancashire is set to referee tomorrow's League Two match between Accrington Stanley and Hereford United.
It does seem somewhat surprising that a referee from Lancashire should have been selected to take charge of this game given Accrington is in Lancashire.
It is also surprising that after Tierney refereed last Friday's game between Macclesfield and Shrewsbury he has been given another game involving a club at the bottom of Division Two.
The last time the Bulls met Tierney was at Edgar Street last September when Gillingham won the game 6-1. Previously Tierney refereed the away game at Gillingham in April 2011. That Saturday afternoon he booked eight players, incuding four from Hereford, in the goal-less draw.
To date this season Tierney has taken charge of 33 games in which he has given out 101 yellow cards and 11 red cards.
