News Round-Up

Portsmouth have axed 33 members of staff after Administrator Trevor Birch completed his first review of the business. The Chief Executive and two directors are amongst those to go, with several other staff asked to take reductions in hours. Birch has warned fans that, even after the cuts, the club may not be able to survive the season. Dagenham have made their first of three claimed signings with the arrival of Southampton forward Ben Reeves. The 20 year old can play a forward midfield role or as a striker.

Burton have signed defender Patrick Ada until the end of the season. The 27 year old was most recently playing in the SPL with Kilmarnock on a short term deal after spending two years to last summer at Crewe. Southend chairman Ron Martin launched a verbal outburst at the club's players after entering the dressing room following Tuesday's loss to Aldershot. Martin was also seen in the dugout during the game.

Crawley drew 1-1 with Morecambe in last night's only League Two match. The promotion favourites played the match in front of just 2,184 spectators. Dagenham's second signing of the day is that of Watford keeper Jonathan Bond. The 18 year old Welshman made his debut for the Hornets as a sub last month, but his only other first team action has been for Brackley Town.

Southend are to sell 650 tickets for their home game with Crawley on March 5th for just £5. The game is being televised, with the Shrimpers receiving £30,000 as a result.
