News Round-Up

Accrington's influential midfielder Ian Craney is to miss three months after breaking a leg in training. The 29 year old has played in every match for Stanley this season. Plymouth bidder James Brent says he is 95% of the way to completing his deal to buy the club. He has agreed a deal with the Administrators to accept half their fees, and is now trying to persuade a small number of ex-employees to agree to a wage deal.

Bristol Rovers have loaned out fringe players Kayne McLaggon and Michael Boateng to Tonbridge for a month, and allowed midfielder Charlie Reece to join Gloucester for a similar term. The Pirates may have also lost the services of defender Adam Virgo for the rest of the season. The 28 year old suffered a mystery knee injury in training and will miss at least a couple of months, but doctors are still diagnosing the problem. Also missing will be midfielder Wayne Brown, who faces three months on the sidelines after fracturing an ankle.

Northampton have signed West Brom striker Saido Berahino on loan for an initial month. The 18 year old is an England u20 international but is yet to make his senior debut. Breakaway club FC United of Manchester are set to leave Bury's Gigg Lane with councillors set to agree to plans for their own £3.5million stadium.

More details have come out of Accrington's off-field cost-cutting. Veteran coach Asa Hartford has been made redundant, and a number of other staff have been asked to drop their working hours from 37.5 to 22.5. Mansfield will develop a 'plan B' site at nearby Rainworth Miners Welfare FC if they lose the ownership battle over their Field Mill home. The Stags need a ten year lease to gain promotion back to the League, and will turn the current 2,000 capacity ground into a 5,000 capacity temporary location if they fail to wrest control of the ground from former owner Keith Haslam.

Oxford have signed Sheff Utd forward Danny Philliskirk on an initial months loan. The 20 year old had a previous loan with the U's at the start of last season, making one sub appearance.
