I don't want Jamie's Job says Peters

Hereford United's Director of Football, Gary Peters, has said that he's come to Edgar Street to help manager Jamie Pitman and he has stressed he doesn't want his job.

"The manager himself was looking for help," Peters told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"He's had it before when Lennie Lawrence came in and done this job.

"I think he instigated a lot of it and another good point here is that the chairman and vice-chairman both felt they lack a bit of experience as well.

"If I'm honest I don't really want Jamie's job. He got to out and pick the team.

"I'm here to try and help him be successful. It's a different job and that's the bit that interests me because that's something one can go on doing for a long time."

Peters has been in the game a long time.

"I think I've had ten promotions, playing, coaching and then managing as well. But all from the lower divisions.

"You need someone who has been down here and understands it. You've got to know what goes on in Division Two football."

He was asked what he would be doing at Edgar Street.

"My job revolves around all the football side. Taking things that Jamie, and even experienced managers, don't like doing. Taking it away from him. Like worrying about budgets and how you are going to get players in. It's not easy.

"We've got to be totally transparent with supporters to make sure everyone is aware that the budget at this football club isn't very high because the support isn't.

"You can only spend 55% of what you get in through the terraces.

"So we need everyone to help us. If we need another player we could do with another 500 supporters.

"And they are only going to come if it is exciting and we are winning."
