Preview: Cheltenham vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Whaddon Road looking for their first away win of the season.

For all the rivalry, the two sides have only met ten times in professional football, six of them in the last three years. The Bulls have lost only one of the ten meetings, at home in 1999, and have won four of five trips to Whaddon Road. Last season debutant Waide Fairhurst scored twice, with Janos Kovacs scoring inbetween, in a 3-0 Bulls win.

Mark Yates' side have been fairly dismal away from home but have won three of four at Whaddon Road this season, including the scalps of pre-season favourites Crawley and Swindon. New striker Daryl Duffy has scored three times, as has last season's second-top scorer Jeff Goulding. They are expected to feature former Bulls defender Keith Lowe, despite his own admission that his performance against the Wombles was not up to scratch.

The Bulls travel to Gloucestershire looking to climb out of the League Two drop zone and ease the pressure on Jamie Pitman. With Janos Kovacs' loan departure, the Bulls squad remains thin but Pitman will hope to have Joe Colbeck and Stefan Stam back for the match and may well delve into the transfer market for further defensive cover. Anything but a win will leave the Bulls in the bottom two, and a win for Bradford would cast the Bulls adrift and make the fans' calls for Pitman's departure even louder.

Cheltenham Town vs Hereford United, Whaddon Road, Saturday 24th September, 3.00pm.
