News Round-Up

In the Carling Cup, Aldershot are the last League Two participants after they beat Rochdale 2-1 last night. Shrewsbury lost 3-1 at Arsenal after taking an early lead. Bristol Rovers striker Jo Kuffour says the club's demands over his wages have blocked a couple of moves away. The former Bournemouth man is reported to be one of the highest earners at the Memorial Ground, with the Pirates looking to recoup as much as possible.

Northampton chairman Dennis Cardoza has publically backed manager Gary Johnson. Despite wanting promotion this season, the Cobblers are already six points short of the play-offs but Cardoza says the wholesale changes in the summer means the team still needs time to gel. Johnson has won just five of 25 games in charge of the club. Plymouth and Southend have been charged with failing to control their players by the FA. Their weekend match saw a mass brawl that led to new Pilgrims player-manager Carl Fletcher being sent off.

It's not just the Bulls who are seeing low gates this season. Lincoln had just 1,587 through the gate last night for their win over Gateshead when they averaged 3,508 last season. Port Vale chief executive Perry Deakin has announced plans to join the board and invest £100,000 into the club. The move will need to be approved by shareholders.

Former Bulls striker Steve Guinan has been banned for three matches after being sent off last night for violent conduct during Kidderminster's 5-2 loss to Fleetwood.
