After a dire performance by Hereford United this evening, chairman David Keyte will have little option than to review the contract of manager Jamie Pitman. The Bulls have now played eight League games and gained just five points. The goal difference is minus 11. It's nearly as bad as this time last season when Simon Davey was in charge. He lasted just ten League games before Keyte sacked him.
Keyte must have heard the cries of 'What a load of rubbish' from supporters in the Meadow End after Aldershot's second goal went in and the booing at the end of the game from some of those who had stayed to the end. Chants of 'Pitman Out' were also heard.
The evening didn't start well. As supporters arrived at the ground there was surprise that mid-fielder Harry Pell had been dropped to the bench. There may have been good reasons for this but supporters were none the wiser.
Another surprise was that Sam Winnall didn't start.
On the pitch, several of the players looked as though they didn't want to be there. It was noticed that, amidst others, Joe Colbeck appeared to be having words with the bench on several occassions during the game.
And the long ball tactic was used time and time again despite the gusty wind.
Later in the game just before Bulls went 2-0 down, a decision was made to bring off loanee Tom Barkhuizen who had looked quite lively on the left wing. Harry Pell was brought on and Simon Clift was moved to the left wing. This decision didn't go down too well with supporters either.
After this evening's gate of just 1599 and another home defeat, it's unlikely the gate on Saturday will be much, if any, higher.
It's decision time for chairman Keyte. Despite his best intentions, the experiment with Pitman hasn't worked.
