Former Bulls midfielder Ben Smith helped Richard Sneekes to get the Bulls coaching job.
Writing in his regular column in the West Brom matchday programme, Sneekes recalled his summer appointment:
"It all happened pretty quickly over the course of the summer. I was doing my Level 3 course in June, including some work at the indoor training centre at West Bromwich, and I heard that the coach at Hereford had left. A friend of mine who already knew him phoned the manager Jamie Pitman to find out what he was looking for, and then Ben Smith, who was on the course, he called Jamie as well to put my name forward.
Jamie then gave me a call and said that he’s had some strong recommendations about me, my thoughts on the game and the way it should be played, and that he was very interested in bringing me in. He already had four candidates, but he asked me in, we had a good meeting, we seemed to have very similar ideas and philosophies, and a few days later I got a call offering me a job.“
He goes on to explain his reasoning on taking up the job, and the article ends: “And if Albion aren’t playing on days when we are, feel free to come down and see us at Edgar Street."
