The Bulls entertain Brentford tonight in their first home match of the new season.
The two sides have met only four previous times in competitive matches. Apart from the 2007/8 League season, where the Bulls sealed promotion to League One at Griffin Park, the previous meeting were a two-legged League Cup tie in 1990. While the Bulls won the first leg 1-0, the Bees won the second leg 2-0 to progress. That is their only win - and only goals - in all four meetings with the Bulls winning every other game without conceding.
The Bulls will look to cause an upset in their opening home fixture against the higher graded side. New arrivals are unlikely at present with the wage budget spent, but work is ongoing in the background to offload the transfer listed duo and new signings have already been approached to come in when that is done. Jamie Pitman's big decision tonight is whether to go for what he called a 4-3-3 that the side started with against Southend, or move to the 4-4-2 that the side switched to with more success later on.
The Bees opened their League One season with a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over relegation favourites Yeovil. New boss Uwe Rosler has plenty of experience in Nordic football but is a debutant to the English managerial game. His signings so far look impressive. Defender Shaleum Logan made Man City's 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of last season, while midfielder Jonathan Douglas is highly rated in League One and Clayton Donaldson was last season's League Two top scorer with Crewe.
Hereford United vs Brentford, Edgar Street, Tuesday 9th August, 7.45pm.
