Saturday's League Two match between Cheltenham Town and Swindon Town has been postponed.
"Following recent events in Gloucester, there is requirement for us to focus police resources to deter and deal with any potential disruption which may take place," said a local police spokesperson.
"As a result, it will not be possible to deploy officers alongside stewards in the ground or additional resources in the town centre on this occasion."
UPDATE 10.30pm: Reports in the Gloucestershire press are now saying that the game will be played.
