Former Hereford United defender Michael Rose is expected to sign for Colchester according to BBC Sport.
28 year old Rose, who still lives in Hereford, has a year left on his contract at Swindon but with their relegation to League Two the Robins are looking to shed some players.
Rose made 33 starts for Swindon this season, scoring three goals.
