Northampton have sacked manager Ian Sampson after last night's 3-2 home loss to Burton.
The Cobblers had pre-season promotion intentions but lie just 16th in the table. Sampson, appointed in September 2009, won just 29 of his 84 games in charge after replacing Stuart Gray. Assistant Malcolm Crosby will take temporary charge, with a club statement saying the board will not rush a decision.
Meanwhile, ex-Bull Andy Ferrell has joined Barrow on loan from Gateshead. The combative midfielder joins up with fellow ex-Bull Nick Chadwick at Holker Street.
